Background

New Varanasi was the administrative capital of the province of Danwar on the northern continent of Eden Prime. It had large government and tourism sectors and was considered an ideal location for wealthy citizens in the north of the planet.

Timeline: Week 2 of UCM Invasion of New Varanasi.

Reconnaissance has been done and now the factions are pushing forces into New Varanasi and skirmishing on the outer parts of the city.

Deployment - PHR

Standard 800 point PHR for New Varanasi campaign, round 2

I did not have a good idea as to what focus against the Shaltari. Their mobility would simply overwhelm my position.

Deployment - Shaltari

To be honest I am still getting the hang of playing the Shaltari. Managing the gates and trying to anticipate the moves/activations of my opponents have proved to be quite challenging.

This was actually the first time I managed to deploy ny troops in a position that was not hopeless and required re-deployment on turn 2.

Turn 1

Ihad decided to play more aggresively, to try and threaten the PHR deployment. What I had forgotten was that the Kukris in the center would not benefit from their skimmer modifier right after deployment.

End of turn 1. The Shaltari advanced boldly. PHR deployed all but the Janus. - Turn 1 (Image 2 of 2)

Turn 2

I lost the initiative roll. Disaster! My Kukri got smashed by the PHR commander and his escort, only one of them surviving the first salvo. And yet, as my first activation of the turn I managed to kill the small PHR transport and knocking out one of the scouts it was carrying. Not an auspicious beginning.

End of turn 5. Critical situation for the PHR with several squads destroyed. Shaltari decided no the advance full for it's League points bonus, as it won't be able to do it in time. Also it makes several yari and Haven easy targets. - Turn 5 (Image 2 of 2)

Man of the Match - Zeus Shield

PHR Zeus commander took several heavy shot from Shaltari tanks and walker. Shield deflected all hits.

BFU - Immortals dying

PHR foolishly advanced into Braves building, hoping to deal some damage in CQB. Not in the least. Immortals took 6 hits, Braves, 1. Then, remaining Immortal base jumped ou of a building to be finished by a Heaven transport
